Easily the most popular index class we run, it’s not surprising it is also one of the most competitive ones too. Five riders hit the index with an oh and top seven were within two hundredths of the 9.50 index. To say they are on the ball would truly not do them justice. Joe Friedmansky was the number one qualifier running a 9.502.

In the semi final round Bob Dougherty who has come out of nowhere jump way up in the points battle would face James Hendricks. Actually, Bob is from Iowa, it’s kind of like nowhere. JK. Both riders leave within a hundredth of each other. Dougherty would stand on the index running a 9.503 to take out Hendrick’s 9.52. Julian Vigay would then take on Joe Mulhern. Vigay made the trip all the way up here from Valdosta Georgia! Now that’s a guy who wants to race! Going to the finals was icing on the cake for Julian. Vigay takes the early lead off the line but Mulhern is only .03 behind. Mulhern drives around Vigay but takes too much stripe and brakes out by two thousandths and Vigay takes the win. The winners circle picture shows just how close these guys are. Not only did they race each other, they shared the Winner’s Circle photos each winning in different classes. A great weekend for sure! Hopefully a few of us came make the trip down Julian’s way in November for the Manufacturer’s Cup.

Getting the missing in action award for the last year and a half, Bob Dougherty is certainly making his presents known. Missing the first two events, Dougherty is now poised to make a solid run at the 2010 Super Stock Championship. To emphasis this he took the number one qualifying position on Sunday running a 9.537 to lead the 24 bike field into competition.

While Bob Dougherty went out in the opening round there were plenty of big hitters still around by the third round. Joe Mulhern and Brian Foster, both very skilled racers were up first. Foster leans too hard on the tree and rolls the tree and goes red to move Mulhern on. Mauire Misner and James Hendricks were then on deck. Like Foster, Hendricks pushed his luck too far trying to keep up with the always quick leaving Misner and goes red. Scott Parker, the wily ET veteran was then paired with multi class racer Steve Adams in a cool match up. Parker on an old school Kawi and Adams on a state of the art ZX-14. Parker gets the jump on the tree and Adams lets too much clutch get out of hand too quickly and spins hard off the line giving the easy win to Parker.

In the semi final round Misner and Mulhern would have to battle to meet Parker in the final round. Misner does his patented gate job and leaves Mulhern trying to make up ground and time. Mulhern can only push Misner to the stripe to keep him honest, but Misner plays the stripe to a tee and takes the round to move on. Parker takes the tree on his bye run.

In the final round both riders leave within .005 of each other and the race to the stripe is on. With both bikes easily able to cover the index they played chicken with the stripe. Parker was'nt going to be denied the line at takes the stripe to his dismay as he breaks out way too much and looses on a double break out run. Misner wins with a 9.41 to Parkers 9.36.
