As a whole, this is one of the toughest classes to race in anywhere.  Look through
the list of names and some very familiar late round names will pop out.  Every now and
then a new name pops on the radar in a late round and this was one of those times.
And for all you smart asses out there, I'm not talking about me.  Although........I digress.
The peach fuzziest and youngest Bixler, Josh made his way to the No Box final round.
While that in itself was a big deal, how many of you crashed on the top end first round
and then made it to a final round?  Yep, young Bixler got a first hand lesson on front
brake use and how to effectively leave asphalt stains on your butt.
NO BOX FINAL ROUND
Having earned the bye run in the
second round based on his .010 RT in
the opening round mayhem, Josh Bixler
the played possum second round hoping
for a gift from his opponent.  The air
shifter and trans were damaged in the
crash an he needed some help to move
on.  He got that when his third rounder
red lit.   Now he would face Chad Isley in
the No Box final round.  You're not going
to pull that one off on this guy.  Still
playing possum, Bixler left too soon and
Isley cuts an .015 light and runs a 9.58
on his 9.61 dial to move on.
ISLEY (L)  vs BIXLER (R)
ISLEY   .014 RT  9.61 DI 9.587 @ 133 << WINNER
BIXLER  LB3A
In the Street ET semi final round Nelson Taylor would face #3591 ?  No name on
tech card.  Anyway Taylor would move on by a red light.  Ron Rippel would face
powerhouse Larry Sargis.  Both of these guys run double duty in the Super Stock class
along with Pro ET.  Rippel rips off an .020 RT to Sargis' game .081.  Sargis would run
only .02 off his dial but Rippel would have none of it and backed into Sargis for the win.
In the Box ET semi final round Thomas Cole enjoyed a bye run and laid down an .006
package to boot. How about a .006 and an 8.960 on a 96!  I know, waisted it! Who knew.
In the other pair Dennis Abrams and Dan McCarten were next.  Now install your late
round comments.........go ahead........Abrams goes red and McCarten puts down a 7.69
on a 68 dial with his own .005 RT.  He and Cole would face off next round.
STREET SEMI FINAL ROUND
In the Street ET final round, Ron Rippel
would face Nelson Taylor.  With only .08
between their dials, the light would be
even more telling.  Both riders leave within
004 of each other, game on!  At the big
end Rippel backs out just enough to take
the stripe while Taylor charges running
almost 10 mph faster then Rippel.  In the
Box Final round, Tom Cole and Dan
McCarten would face off.   Again Cole
throws down a .006 RT to McCarten's
.011.  Grabbing fourth gear Coles' bikes
slows uncharacteristically and McCarten
blows past for the win.
RIPPEL (L)  vs SARGIS (R)
BOX FINAL ROUND
Now that all three parts of the class
were each down to one each, it was time
for the dreaded coin toss.  The odd man
out gets the bye run into the final round.
This day it would be Ron Rippel who
would get that bye and run a 9.59 on his
9.50 dial.  That left Chad Isley and Dan
McCarten to race for it.  Both racers
leave with RT's within .002 of each other.
Isley pushed too hard on the big end and
breaks out by .04 and McCarten pushes
him through running a 7.686 on a 68 dial
to move on.
COLE (L)  vs MCCARTEN (R)
MCCARTEN   .011 RT 7.68 DI 7.778 @ 150 << WINNER

ISLEY             .011 RT 9.60 DI 9.562 @ 141
The final King of The Hill run off would be between Ron Rippel and Dan McCarten.
Rippel would stick with his 9.50 dial in and McCarten would stick with his 7.68 dial.
With the tree now fully shaded from the sun, red lights are always looming in the
late rounds.  Not so today, Rippel left first with a cautious .088, McCarten was
pushing it with an .015.  Having .07 in the bank and 30 mph on the big end makes
the game a bit easier to play.  Rippel, despite running only .03 over would give way
and McCarten would take the win.

July 11th Results
Once again we were blessed with great weather and only a slight chance of afternoon
showers on hand.  We kept a close eye on the radar throughout the day and a huge line
of storms was only 50 miles west of the track after first round, but it held off until about 30
after the last pass, five hours later!  We apologize for pushing the racers so hard to turn
their bikes around between rounds, but there didn't look like anyway the rain would miss
us.........who knew?
Picking up the race in the fourth round it looked like this.  Mark Nettesheim and Tim
Bixler, the least peach fuzziest of the boys would pair off.  Nettesheim would be leaving
first,  Mark cuts an .036 bulb and hauls off while Bixler waits.  Two and a half seconds
later Bixler can wait no more and trims the tree too tight and goes red by -.011!  Crap!
NO BOX FINAL ROUND
In the Street ET semi finals Paul
Summers would face Mike Klemme.
Klemme would push too hard on the
tree and go red by .008 and Summers
would move on to the Street Class final
round.  Bob Dougherty and Ron Rippel
were next.  Dougherty would leave first
and cut a great .009 RT to Rippels
slipping .106.  Rippel would run hard at
Dougherty but would break out trying
to run him down.  That puts Summers
and Dougherty in the Street Class
finals.
NETTESHEIM (L) vs BIXLER (R)
NETTESHEIM  .036 RT 11.11 DI 11.07 @ 115 << WINNER
BIXLER           -.011 RT  8.72 DI  12..27 @ 66
STREET FINAL ROUND
In the Box Class semi final
round Tom Ewig would face Bill
Homuth.  Homuth would be
chasing Ewig by a tenth.  Not
cutting him any slack, Homuth
pushed the tree and goes .003
red and Ewig runs right on his dial
with a two.  Gregory Darm then
faced Jason Clampitt after his
afternoon autograph session had
ended.  Darm would be chasing
Clampitt by half a second.  Both
riders left with lights within .01 of
each other.  On the big end,
Darm would run closer to his
number and would move on to
face Ewig in the Box Final round.
SUMMERS (L) vs DOUGHERTY (R)
SUMMERS      .030 RT 12.20 DI 12.293 @ 104 << WINNER
DOUGHERTY .003 RT 9.69 DI 9.667 @ 130
BOX FINAL ROUND
  The Box Final round was
almost over on the line as Darm
goes .003 !  However, on the
top end Darm's new ride doesn't
cover the number and Ewig
almost breaks out running .01
over to Darm's .06 over.  Ewig
would now go to the run off
rounds with Mark Nettesheim
and Paul Summer for the big
money.
EWIG (L) vs DARM (R)

TOM EWIG TAKING TREE
The Street/No Box run off between Mark Nettesheim and Paul Summers was next.
Nettesheim would be giving chase which is out of the norm for him.  At any rate, both
riders leave with safe lights. Summers would take too much stripe and break out by .04
sending Nettesheim to the big round against friend and neighbor Tom Ewig.
KING OF THE HILL RUN OFF
The King of The Hill run off
between Nettesheim and Ewig
was over as soon as it started.
Nettesheim turned on the red
bulb gave the round to Ewig.
EWIG(L) vs NETTESHEIM (R)
EWIG                .016 RT   9.76 DI 9.711 @ 131 << WINNER
